The Honourable President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee hosted a private screening of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom at his office and residence, Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi Saturday.

The hosting of a private screening of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom by the President is an indication of the esteem in which Nelson Mandela is held by the Indian nation.

"We are exceptionally honoured that the President of India hosted the screening of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Madiba had a very special place in his heart for the people of India and for the Government of India's support of the anti-apartheid movement, especially as India was the first country to take up this cause. We are proud to have made a South African film celebrating Madiba's legacy and to be able to present it to the President of India tonight." commented producer, Anant Singh, who was present at the event.

Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom was released in Austria, Germany, New Zealand, Nigeria and Ghana this week, and will be followed by releases in Hong Kong, Australia and Greece on 6 February, followed by Finland on 13 February and Turkey on 28 February. The film is currently still playing at cinemas ten weeks after its release in South Africa.
